The beginnings of the current Can Cortada farmhouse date back to the 11th century, when the lords of Horta built a defence tower to prevent possible feudal attacks.

During the 15th century the Tower was transformed into a castle and during the following 350 years it had a strong agricultural tradition. In the 16th century it became a fertile farmhouse that supplied the markets of Horta and Gracia. In 1994 the farmhouse was transformed into a restaurant, but it still retains its typical Catalan farmhouse structure.
